Indian Parliament House

The general elections to the Indian Parliament is the biggest democratic exercise in the world, with an electorate of  about 620 million.  As many as 4648 candidates contested the elections in 538 of the 543 constituencies where polling could be held. (Polling was postponed in five constituencies).  About 58 per cent of the voters turned up to vote at more than 773700 polling stations set up across the country.
